Bentley estimates that it takes around 500 man-hours to build and construct the Mulsanne. The main reason for this lengthy effort is a deliberate decision to embrace modern tech. The Crewe factory workers do not employ a machine to place perfectly-matched cross stitched leather seats. Instead they do it by hand. Instead of letting the car's built-in sensors guide it to perpendicular and parallel parking spaces drivers must perform the task by hand.
